Anthropic reports 45x coding productivity gain with AI.

In its IPO prospectus, Anthropic stated its Claude AI model performs 90% of its coding, increasing engineer productivity 45-fold. In Europe, key transparency and general-purpose model rules under the EU’s AI Act are now in effect, with a new ban on AI-generated CSAM applying from December.

Anthropic’s 45-fold coding productivity gain

In a preliminary IPO prospectus, Anthropic stated that its AI model, Claude, was responsible for at least 90% of the company’s own software coding in the preceding month. This has resulted in a more than 45-fold increase in the average amount of code written per engineer per day compared to the company’s 2024 levels. The filing demonstrates a significant, quantifiable productivity leap in a core technical function, showing how the role of software engineers is shifting towards prompting, reviewing, and testing AI-generated output.

French startup Mistral AI has secured €3 billion in a Series D funding round, reaching a post-money valuation of over €21 billion. The round, led by Samsung Electronics, the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund, and PSG Equity, is the largest ever for a private European technology company. The company is also offering voluntary buyouts to 60,000 employees as it manages the high cost of its AI investments.
